Rapid Dose Estimation using Deep Learning Imitating Monte Carlo Simulation (DLMC)
빠른 선량 계산을 위한 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 모사하는 딥러닝 모델 개발 - 방사선 방호, 인공지능
기존에 방사선과 관련된 거의 모든 분야에서 사용되는 MCNP, GEANT4등의 입자수송 전산모사 방법은 방사선의 거동을 시뮬레이션하고 관련된 결과를 예측할 수 있는 훌륭한 도구가 되어 왔음.
하지만 Geometry가 복잡하거나, 수송할 입자가 많거나, 복잡한 물리모델을 따라 거동하는 입자의 경우 해당 해석을 완료하는 데 필요한 시간 및 계산량이 매우 많이 필요함.
다양한 상황 및 매질, 선원의 에너지에 대해 이러한 입자수송 전산모사에 필요한 input과 output을 통해 입자수송 전산모사의 Governing mechanism을 인공지능 모델이 학습
이를 통해 정밀한 입자수송 계산을 하지 않고도 상당히 빠른 시간 내에 필요한 선원 및 상황에 따른 Dose distribution을 얻어낼 수 있으며, 또한 인공지능의 힘으로 실제 학습되지 않은 차폐 모양 및 에너지에 대해서도 대략적인 선량분포를 매우 빠르게 얻어낼 수 있을 것이라 판단됨.

가상현실(virtual reality, VR) 기반의 디지털 트윈 기술을 활용하여 방사선치료 관련 종사자들의 방사선치료 실무 숙련도 향상 및, 환자들의 방사선치료 적응도 향상을 통한 더욱 안전하고 정확한 방사선치료가 이루어질 수 있도록 하는 VR기반의 디지털 트윈 방사선치료 교육훈련 플랫폼을 개발
양성자치료 및 중입자치료 등 다른 형태의 방사선치료 및 비파괴검사와 같은 타 분야에 대해서도 효과적인 교육훈련을 제공

Analysis of Activation in Large Accelerator Facility by Monte-Carlo code
대형 가속기 시설 및 부대시설에 대한 방사화 평가
Facilities using high-energy and high-current beams have been increasing rapidly in recent years and existing facilities are at the point of decommission.
More Large Accelerator facilities will be constructed in the future, and systems to protect the facility from being activated are essential.
Therefore, this study analyzes and calculates the influence of high-energy radiation and accelerator facilities which could affect the radioactive waste, workers, and the environment.

Recently, the demand for on-site inspection continues to increase as the number of institutions using radioactive isotopes and radiation generators increases.
However, various inconveniences are caused due to the characteristic of the regulatory authority that combines both inspection and administrative tasks.
In this perspective, we propose the various types of new inspection methodologies including untact inspection based on Cloud-service, Augmented and Virtural Reality (AR/VR), and the application.

Dose Assessment and Biokinetic Models of Internal Radiation Exposure
내부피폭 선량평가, 생리역동학 모델 연구 - 방사선 과학, 방호
Unlike external exposure due to ionizing radiation outside of the body, internal radiation exposure due to ingestion, penetration, or ingestion of radioisotopes requires very different scientific principle to be interpreted.
In order to scientifically interpret such internal radiation exposure and to protect people from it, the dynamics of radioisotopes in the body is analyzed based on a biokinetic model.
In particular, in the case of accidents with internal exposure, such as inhalation of radioactive isotopes, the dose received may vary depending on the body's metabolism, so it is necessary to reconstruct the kinetics of radioisotope retrospectively and derive the dose to be received by the absorbed source.
Therefore, through the study of such biokinetic model and epidemiological internal exposure dose evaluation, human understanding of internal exposure can be increased, and effective dose reconstruction can be carried out.

Development of human error management system for radiotherapy
방사선 치료 중 발생하는 인적 오류 보고관리 시스템 개발 - 방사선 의료, 방호
Radiotherapy is a multi-stage, complex, process which utilizes various technologies and related professional expertise. A high level of accuracy is required in each step to achieve the goal of radiotherapy with maximum tumor control and minimal risk to normal tissue.
Errors in radiotherapy include equipment failures and operating errors. In the course of radiotherapy, complex data/information transfer and many human interactions lead to potential errors that may significantly affect patient safety.
We will develop human error management system by analyzing the types of human errors.

Helical Tomotherapy를 통한 두개척수 암치료에서 환자 개별 치료 인자에 따른 치료 후 예후 분석 - 방사선 의료
Craniospinal irradiation (CSI) is a complex radiotherapy (RT) technique that irradiates the cranium and spinal cord. It is often needed in patients with brain tumors at risk of dispersion through the cerebrovascular fluid.
Since HT is highly conformal RT technique, unnecessary dose can be reduced as much as possible, and side effects caused by additional dose can be alleviated.
This study approached from two perspectives to evaluate clinical feasibility of CSI using HT: setup verification and pulmonary toxicity to check the accuracy and safety of the treatment.
